ICEGATE, the Indian Custom EDI gateway, serves as the primary interface for users engaging with the Indian Customs EDI system. This platform is utilized by various entities, including Importers, Exporters, Customs House Agents (CHAs), Airlines, Shipping Agents, as well as trade partners such as Banks, Custodians, FSSAI, and Government Agencies like DGFT and the Ministry of Steel. Users connect to ICEGATE for document filing, data sharing within Customs Business Processes, and for administrative, statistical, analytical, or policy-making purposes.

To enhance security and address challenges like identity impersonation, tracing user identity, and preventing misuse of accredited client credibility, ICEGATE mandates the use of Digital Signature Certificates (DSC) for electronic document filing, data exchange, e-payment, status inquiry, document tracking, query-reply, and other related services through Remote EDI Services (RES). The implementation of DSC ensures the authenticity and integrity of electronic messages exchanged among customs business partners, stakeholders, and government agencies.
